Richa Arya is an accomplished sculptor known for her intricate work with repurposed scrap metal, reflecting the domestic worlds of women in urban Haryana and the labor of migrant women in Delhi. She earned her BFA in Sculpture from Kurukshetra University in 2018 and her MFA in Sculpture from the College of Art, University of Delhi in 2020.
Arya's poignant installations, which transform industrial materials into symbols of feminized labor, have been featured in solo exhibitions like "Stitched" at Triveni Art Gallery and "I Sew My Life Against My Own" at the Serendipity Art Festival. She has participated in notable residencies such as the KHOJ Peers Residency (2022) and the Serendipity Art Residency (2023), Dotwalk Ajitara Art Residency “OF BARRIERS AND DISTANCES” with Swiss artists, and her work has been showcased at prestigious venues including the India Art Fair with Vida Heydari Contemporary (2023), Vis-A-Vis Gallery, STIR, and Art Incept Gallery (2023), Arya's contributions extend to outdoor workshops like the Wood
Carving Workshop at the National Gallery of Modern Art and the Ceramic Studio at Bharat Bhavan. Recognized with numerous accolades, including the Imaginarium Emami Art Award (2023) and the Prafulla Dhanukar All India Merit Award (2021), Arya continues to explore and critique the gendered dimensions of labor through her art.
