(b.1991)

Deena Pindoria, born in Kutch, Gujarat, India, completed her undergraduate degree in painting in Ahmedabad in 2020 and her MFA from Faculty of Fine Arts, MSU Baroda. Pindoria has actively participated in various group exhibitions in India, including the "Seven Visions" show at Amdavad ni Gufa in Ahmedabad in 2020. In recognition of her talent, she was granted a scholarship by the Kala Sakshi Art Scholarship in 2022. Furthermore, she was selected to participate in the winter residency program at space studio in Baroda in 2023. Her works were also chosen for display at ABIR First Take, an exhibition held at Bikaner House in Delhi in 2022.

Deena's artistic journey forges a profound connection with Ajrakh block print and natural dyes textiles. Immersed in the craft of creating natural dyes from materials like madder roots, turmeric, and indigo, Deena has collaborated with local artisans in Kutch, Gujarat for four years, delving into this ancient art form.

Hailing from Madhapar, a warrior village in Kutch, Deena's art draws deep inspiration from their ancestors' involvement in the Indo-Pakistan War of 1971. Stories of courage and resilience shared by their grandmother, where 300 women warriors rebuilt airstrips within 72 hours, have profoundly influenced Deena's artistic expression. With each stroke of the block against the fabric, Deena carries the weight of history and the resilience of their ancestors, honoring their spirit through vibrant colors and intricate patterns.
