b. (1995)

Sonali Sonam is a young visual artist based in India. Sonam completed her undergraduate education at Kala Bhavan, Viswa Bharti Shantiniketan, and her master's from the College of Arts, New Delhi. She is the recipient of the Shristi AIF Grant 2020, her shows include Citing Beauty at Gallery Exhibit 320, 2021, and was also a part of the India Art Fair 2022 with Exhibit 320.

Her works are influenced by the miniature style, and they investigate the natural world in the urban space. She is interested in how a collection of mundane activities can be transformed by existing in a collective space and becoming strange and intriguing. She leaves space for imagination, interpretation, and uncertainty for anyone viewing her work.

Intrigued by the idea of non-static beauty, she draws inspiration from her surroundings and socio-political scenarios. Her works are influenced by the miniature style, and they investigate the natural world in the urban space. She believes that beauty is not personal, but rather dependent on the spectator. She sees notions of beauty as dynamic and changing based on time and perceptions. She is interested in how a collection of mundane activities can be transformed by existing in a collective space and becoming strange and intriguing. Sonam consciously employs the use of void spaces, delinking them from their previous contexts and creating a new sense of infinity. She leaves space for imagination, interpretation, and uncertainty for anyone viewing her work.
