Suryakanta Swain is a mixed media artist who grew up in Odisha. He got his bachelor' Degree at BK College of Art & Crafts before completing his Post Graduation from the College of Art, New Delhi. As a migrant from a rural village to a metropolitan city, he witnessed a transition that created a sense of rootlessness in his urban life. The fast and constantly changing landscape, construction, deconstruction, the power dynamic led to him questioning the meaning of life. This inspired his artistic practice as and as a result, many of his works revolve around the ideas of coexistence and representing the diversity of cultures. Suryakant has previously been the recipient of the Dharti Arts Residency, an initiative of the Serendipity Arts Trust. He has also participated in shows at multiple art galleries including Latitude 28, Lalit Kala Academy, Kiran Nadar Museum of Art, and Exhibit 320.
